Next-generation CAR‑T therapy for acute myeloid leukemia: bridging innovation with clinical translation
Recent advances in AML include approved targeted therapies—FLT3 inhibitors (midostaurin, quizartinib, gilteritinib), IDH inhibitors (enasidenib, olutasidenib, ivosidenib), and a BCL-2 inhibitor (venetoclax)—as well as emerging immunotherapies such as bispecific antibodies, antibody‑drug conjugates, checkpoint inhibitors, and CAR‑T cell therapy.
This article reviews recent advances in the genetics and treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, highlighting new diagnostic techniques, measurable residual disease monitoring, approved targeted therapies, emerging immunotherapies, and ongoing clinical research.
Advancing targeted and immunotherapy options offers the prospect of more effective, personalized treatment for AML patients, potentially improving survival and reducing toxicity.
