Pancreatic cancer: two new studies to improve treatment
The BLAZE‑PDAC and PACT‑36 GIOTTO trials are independent clinical studies aimed at improving pancreatic‑cancer treatment through precision medicine.
This article reports on two newly awarded independent clinical research studies for pancreatic cancer—the BLAZE‑PDAC and PACT‑36 GIOTTO trials—which aim to exploit tumour biology and precision medicine to improve patient outcomes. The studies were announced by the Veronesi Foundation and the Ficog consortium as winners of their first independent clinical research call.
Pancreatic cancer has a dismal 5‑year survival of about 11 % in Italy, making new therapeutic strategies essential. The two trials, led by Dr Davide Melisi and Dr Michele Reni, investigate biomarker‑driven therapies that could spare patients from conventional chemotherapy and provide targeted, more effective treatments.
