Bosutinib Shows Promise in Treating Children with Newly Diagnosed Ph+ CML
Bosutinib shows promising efficacy in pediatric newly diagnosed Philadelphia‑chromosome positive chronic myeloid leukemia.
In a phase II study of 30 pediatric patients with newly diagnosed chronic phase Philadelphia‑chromosome positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia, bosutinib (300 mg/m² daily) achieved an overall survival of 100 % and a 24‑month event‑free survival of 97 % per protocol, with high rates of complete hematologic response (93 %) and major molecular response (48 % at 12 months).
This study demonstrates that bosutinib is an effective and tolerable treatment option for children with newly diagnosed Ph+ CML, potentially improving survival and reducing long‑term complications.
