International research to address the challenges of metastatic breast cancer: the AURORA Program (BIG 14-01)

Rákkutatás · Breast cancer · ERBB2

Comprehensive multi‑omics profiling of matched primary and metastatic breast cancer samples, linked to curated clinical data, enables precision medicine by revealing actionable molecular alterations in metastatic disease.

The AURORA Program is the largest international effort to generate comprehensive multi‑omics data from matched primary and metastatic breast cancer samples, together with circulating tumor DNA and detailed clinical outcomes. This program seeks to identify driver alterations, immune‑microenvironment features, and predictive biomarkers that can inform precision‑medicine treatment decisions in metastatic breast cancer.

Metastatic breast cancer remains incurable and treatment decisions are often based on limited molecular information. By integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and ctDNA data from a wide patient cohort, AURORA improves our understanding of tumor evolution, informs the design of future clinical trials, and supports the development of targeted therapies that could improve survival and quality of life.
