Large‑scale whole‑genome analysis of osteosarcoma patients identified a previously unrecognized LTA chromothripsis mechanism, found in roughly half of high‑grade cases. This genomic rearrangement, coupled with a loss‑of‑heterozygosity biomarker, offers a predictive tool for patient survival and highlights potential avenues for targeted therapy.

Decoding the genetic underpinnings of osteosarcoma enables clinicians to stratify patients by risk, tailor treatment plans, and potentially reduce exposure to ineffective therapeutics, thereby improving long‑term outcomes.
