Restricting the two amino acids slowed prostate tumor growth and reduced the spread of cancer cells to the lungs.
A preclinical study in mice demonstrated that limiting the essential amino acids isoleucine and valine slowed prostate tumor growth and reduced lung metastasis, suggesting a potential metabolic vulnerability for prostate cancer therapy.
If dietary restriction of isoleucine and valine can diminish tumor aggressiveness in vivo, it points to a novel, non‑pharmacological strategy that may complement existing androgen‑receptor‑targeted treatments such as enzalutamide.
