Iberdomide Shows Promising Phase 3 Results in R/R Multiple Myeloma
Patients with multiple myeloma who received a new immunotherapy combination lived significantly longer without their cancer worsening.
In a large phase 3 international trial, talquetamab‑based combinations (talquetamab + daratumumab ± pomalidomide) showed superior disease control compared with the standard regimen of daratumumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone. Approximately 80 % of patients on the new regimens remained progression‑free at two years versus about 50 % on standard care. Response rates approached 90 % versus 80 % with standard therapy, and early signals of improved overall survival were observed, though longer follow‑up is required. Side‑effect profiles were consistent with expectations for the individual agents and few patients discontinued treatment.
The findings introduce a promising new therapeutic option for patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma—an area with high unmet need—potentially extending progression‑free survival and improving overall survival with manageable toxicity.
