New hope for immunotherapy as prostate cancer treatment
Combining PIM1 kinase inhibition with immune checkpoint inhibitors sensitizes prostate tumors to immunotherapy, reducing tumor growth in preclinical models.
In vitro and animal studies demonstrate that inhibition of PIM1 kinase in tumor‑associated macrophages enhances the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors, leading to reduced tumor growth in prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer has been largely resistant to immune checkpoint inhibitors; this new strategy may unlock effective immunotherapy for a disease with limited treatment options and could inform future clinical trials.
