‘Truly shocking’: Nearly one-third of young women unscreened for cervical cancer
In 2023, one-third of women aged 21 to 29 years ― and 15% of those aged 30 to 64 years ― report never undergoing cervical cancer screening.
This finding highlights a growing gap in preventive care for cervical cancer, indicating that many young women are missing routine screenings that could detect precancerous lesions and early‑stage cancers, thereby increasing the risk of advanced disease and poorer outcomes. Addressing this gap is essential for reducing cervical cancer morbidity and mortality in the United States.
