Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is a rare salivary gland malignancy with high rates of local recurrence and distant metastasis, and there are no standard systemic treatments for the metastatic or locally recurrent setting. This review compiles contemporary evidence on therapeutic options, identifies the most promising agents (e.g., VEGFR‑2 inhibitors such as Apatinib), and points to gaps that require Phase III trials, thereby informing clinicians and guiding future research in this unmet‑needs area.
