A pediatric oncology clinical trial at UH Rainbow is testing the off‑label anti‑adhesion therapy natalizumab in children, adolescents and young adults with unresectable recurrent, refractory or progressive pulmonary metastatic osteosarcoma.
Metastatic osteosarcoma has a dismal 25‑30 % survival rate, and no new therapeutic modalities have markedly improved outcomes. A novel approach targeting VCAM‑1‑α4β1 signaling with natalizumab could offer a new therapeutic option for patients with limited choices.
