Epidemiological Assessment of Oral and Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinomas Before, During, and After the COVID-19 Pandemic, 2018–2024

Cancer research · Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Neck dissection was independently associated with the pandemic/post‑pandemic period (adjusted OR 1.87, 95% CI 1.06–3.29; p = 0.030).

The finding indicates that the COVID‑19 pandemic sustained or exacerbated delays and changes in head‑and‑neck cancer management, emphasizing the need for uninterrupted onco‑surveillance and timely referral. The study provides event‑level data supporting policy initiatives to protect cancer care during public‑health crises.
