Adjuvant chemoradiotherapy versus radiotherapy alone for women with high‑risk endometrial cancer (PORTEC‑3): final results of an international, open‑label, multicentre, randomised, phase 3 trial

In the PORTEC‑3 trial, 660 women with high‑risk endometrial cancer were randomised to receive either pelvic radiotherapy alone or radiotherapy combined with concurrent cisplatin and adjuvant carboplatin‑paclitaxel chemotherapy. The addition of chemotherapy improved failure‑free survival but did not improve overall survival.

The study shows that adding chemotherapy to radiotherapy increases disease‑free survival but does not confer overall survival benefit, informing decision‑making for adjuvant treatment in high‑risk endometrial cancer.
