Tagitanlimab Improves Upon Chemo in Recurrent, Metastatic Nasopharyngeal Cancer

Rákkutatás · Melanoma

Adding tagitanlimab to treatment with gemcitabine and cisplatin (GP) can improve progression‑free survival (PFS) in patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal cancer.

A phase 3 trial (NCT05294172) assessed tagitanlimab plus gemcitabine and cisplatin versus placebo plus the same chemotherapy in treatment‑naïve patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal cancer. Median progression‑free survival was not reached in the tagitanlimab‑GP arm compared with 7.9 months in the placebo‑GP arm (HR 0.47; 95% CI 0.33‑0.66; P < 0.0001). Overall survival data are immature, but a trend toward benefit was observed. The regimen showed high objective‑response rates (81.7% vs 74.5%) and acceptable safety.

If confirmed, tagitanlimab could become the first‑line standard of care for recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal cancer—a disease with limited effective options and poor survival outcomes.
