Farnesol disrupts hypoxia-driven EMT signaling in lung cancer spheroids

Rákkutatás · NSCLC

Farnesol disrupts hypoxia‑driven EMT signaling in lung cancer spheroids.

Farnesol is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene alcohol that inhibits HIF1A, COX2, PCAF, VEGF and MMP2/9 signaling, reverses the E‑cadherin loss associated with epithelial‑to‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) and reduces migration and invasion of A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells in 2D and 3D spheroid culture systems.

The compound reverses key transcriptional and proteomic drivers of EMT and hypoxia‑induced metastasis in non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells, suggesting a potential antimetastatic therapeutic strategy.
