Frontiers | Lamins’ role in osteosarcoma

Rákkutatás · Osteosarcoma

There is evidence that lamin A/C expression is inversely related to the aggressiveness of osteosarcoma cell lines, and forced expression of lamin A/C reduces tumour features such as proliferation and migration.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a rare and highly aggressive bone tumour that can develop in several skeletal segments, predominantly affecting the long bones. It primarily occurs in adolescents, young adults and people older than 60. Recent research has increasingly emphasized the critical role of mechanotransduction as a key regulator of cellular functions, with the nucleus being an active player in mechanosensing and mechanotransduction within bone tissue. This review analyzes the state of the art regarding the role of lamins in bone cancer biology.

LAMIN A/C levels influence osteosarcoma cell behaviour and may represent a therapeutic target.
