Significant New Treatment Options Emerge for Patients With CLL
Fixed-duration venetoclax‑based regimens (venetoclax+obinutuzumab or venetoclax+ibrutinib) are non‑inferior to continuous ibrutinib for previously untreated CLL, offering deep remissions and favorable immune reconstitution.
The 2025 ASH meeting presented a phase‑3 trial showing that fixed‑duration venetoclax‑obinutuzumab and venetoclax‑ibrutinib regimens are non‑inferior to continuous ibrutinib in newly diagnosed CLL, with high undetectable MRD rates and robust immune reconstitution. Additional reports described promising activity of lisaftoclax after BTKi failure and improved outcomes with pirtobrutinib versus ibrutinib in both treatment‑naïve and relapsed/refractory CLL.
These findings expand therapeutic options by demonstrating that finite, targeted regimens can achieve durable remissions while potentially reducing long‑term toxicities and treatment burden in CLL patients.
