Hyperpolarized (13)C Pyruvate MRI/MRS for Characterizing Splenic Metabolism in Advanced Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma: A Pilot Study
Hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate MRI/MRS was completed in all five patients, with kinetic analysis feasible in four.
This study demonstrates that hyperpolarized (13)C pyruvate MRI/MRS can be safely performed in patients with advanced diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and that the technique may capture splenic metabolic activity that correlates with FDG-PET/CT metrics. The findings justify larger longitudinal studies to evaluate the method as a potential biomarker for disease burden and therapeutic response.
