ERK1/2 drive tumor growth in NSCLC but inhibit survival in SCLC
The Cobb Lab investigates protein-kinase signal‑transduction mechanisms with a focus on ERK MAP kinases in development and neuroendocrine cancers, as well as WNK and TAO kinases. Key questions involve how ERK1/2 contribute to tumor growth in non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and why they are suppressed in small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The work also examines WNK1’s roles in vasculature development and TAO kinases’ functions in MAPK pathways.
Elucidating the dual roles of ERK1/2 in lung cancers provides insight for potential therapeutic targeting of ERK signaling in NSCLC while understanding its protective effects in SCLC.
