Sarcomas are rare malignancies encompassing more than 100 histologic subtypes. Their complexity demands specialized and multidisciplinary expertise that is difficult for many patients to access. Diagnostic delays, structural disparities, and significant financial toxicity collectively impede timely and attainable access to high‑quality care. This narrative review synthesizes published literature on barriers to high‑quality sarcoma care delivery and evaluates emerging solutions designed to address them, including hub‑and‑spoke networks, coordinated specialist review panels, telemedicine, and community provider education.
The rarity and heterogeneity of sarcomas lead to diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, resulting in delays, disparities, and financial toxicity that markedly affect patient outcomes.
