UCSD Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Trial: BCA101 Monotherapy and in Combination Therapy in Patients With EGFR‑driven Advanced Solid Tumors
BCA101 is a first‑in‑class bifunctional antibody targeting both EGFR and TGF‑β that may exert synergistic activity in patients with EGFR‑driven tumors.
This first‑in‑human Phase 1/1b, open‑label, multicenter study evaluates the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of BCA101, a novel bifunctional EGFR/TGF‑β fusion protein, alone and in combination with pembrolizumab, in patients with EGFR‑driven advanced solid tumors, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma of the anal canal, colorectal cancer, and others.
Identifying effective targeted therapies for EGFR‑driven tumors is critical for patients who have exhausted standard treatments; BCA101’s dual blockade of EGFR and TGF‑β pathways offers a potentially novel therapeutic option.
