Rákkutatás · Merkel cell carcinoma

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive skin cancer.

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive skin cancer that originates from Merkel cells in the skin. It typically presents as a painless, firm bump that may be red‑purple or skin‑colored, often located on sun‑exposed areas such as the head/neck or arms, though it can appear anywhere on the body. MCC is characterized by rapid growth and is considered a neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin.

MCC is an uncommon but highly aggressive skin malignancy that can metastasize early and has a poor prognosis, making early detection and treatment essential for patient survival.
