Frontline Osimertinib Combo Prolongs Survival in Advanced EGFR+ NSCLC

Rákkutatás · NSCLC · EGFR · osimertinib

Neoadjuvant osimertinib, alone or with chemotherapy, substantially improves pathological response rates in resectable EGFR‑mutated NSCLC.

The phase III NeoADAURA trial evaluated neoadjuvant osimertinib alone or with platinum‑based chemotherapy versus chemotherapy alone in 358 patients with resectable Stage II–IIIB EGFR‑mutated NSCLC. Major pathologic response rates were markedly higher with osimertinib (25–26%) than with chemotherapy alone (2%). Early event‑free survival at 12 months was 93–95% in the osimertinib arms compared with 83% for chemotherapy.

Improved major pathologic response and early event‑free survival suggest that neoadjuvant osimertinib may become a new standard of care for resectable EGFR‑mutated NSCLC, potentially enhancing long‑term outcomes and enabling more personalised perioperative treatment.
